Welcome to Islesford Boatworks!

We're a non-profit organization that builds boats with kids on Little Cranberry Island, off the Northern Coast of Maine. Started by the Ravenhill siblings, Islesford Boatworks (IB) is a hands-on summer program focused on building community, opportunity, and leadership... all while building traditional wooden boats. We've made our home in the town of Islesford, where the island's community of lobstermen, artisans, and families join our students every summer in building IB's wooden boats! Read on...

We've Gone Green
We are thrilled to announce that Islesford Boatworks is now running on clean renewable energy. Our energy is created in the state of Maine through hydroelectric and wind power. To find out more and sign up, please visit www.mainerenewableenergy.com.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Another grand summer has come and gone with much success. Our second Daisy 12.5' sailing dory is as beautiful as the first and has found a new home with the Thibodeau family in North East Harbor, Maine. The boat (pictured) not only floats but also is beautiful and sails like a dream. Through grant writing, the boat auction, T shirt sales, generous donations and tuition, we were able to meet all our expenses and carry a small balance into 2008. We expect even more great things in the years to come!

Be on the lookout for the second Annual Report in the months to come. In an effort to reduce our ecological-footprint we have decided that we will no longer print our Annual Reports, but rather will make them available online for your viewing pleasure. Islesford Boatworks has taken this and other steps to reduce its dependency and use of natural resources. To further compound these changes IB has started a Tree Planting Program to promote active forestry management and tree planting on the Cranberry Isles. Contact us for more information.

Win next summer's boat! In order to give each and every one of our students and supporters the opportunity to own an Islesford Boatworks boat, we have decided that we will raffle off next year's boat.

We are busy applying for grants, and soliciting the help we need to make the 2008 summer as successful as last summer. We would like to thank all those volunteers and community members who donated their time and money to support our cause.

We are also thrilled to announce that our dear friend Ashley Bryan has donated his beautiful print "Bobby Shafto Goes to Sea" to Islesford Boatworks. Ashley has completed a limited edition printing solely for Islesford Boatworks, and a donation of 500 dollars gets you a signed copy of this breathtaking print.
